Our art education initiative is currently led by Lawrence, one of our very first modzi graduate students. |
Through art, our students experience creative thinking and collaboration. We create safe spaces for our students to reflect and explore artistic expression. Through the use of recycled materials, our students learn to think about reusing what would otherwise be considered trash, to creatively express themselves. We strongly support the idea that art has the power to create change. |
A note from our Project Manager:
My name is Lawrence and I am one of modzi’s first graduate students. My personal passion for art has been inspired by my belief in the importance of art in daily life. To me, art is an expression of our thoughts, emotions, intuitions, and desires, but it is even more personal than that: it's about sharing the way we experience the world, which for many is an extension of personality. Art surrounds life, all people, in every location, sometimes without us being aware of it. Art has existed as long as man has and it remains a huge part of our collective human history. In culture, art helps to shape our ideas. It can also provide us with an increase in self-awareness and a deeper understanding of human emotions. |
Many people fail to realize just how much art impacts daily life. Because we are surrounded by it, the human race would not be the same as we know it without art. I personally believe in the power of artistic expression and in the potential for art to create opportunities.
I myself have experienced how art can lift spirits and motivate people to be more driven than ever. I have seen how art has the ability to engage people in acts of peace and collaboration. In certain settings such as hospitals, art can help patients recover faster and keep their families calm. Paintings in other workplaces may inspire creativity, while outdoor art can make a community feel more beautiful. People often visit new places in order to see their unique styles of art, which leads to interesting exchanges of ideas.
Through art we are able to gain a better understanding of cultures, history, and tradition as well as help people in the present to build better lives in the future. Art is everywhere, influencing us on a daily basis, whether we realize it or not. And for this reason, art remains so very important to our daily lives. Whether it’s a painting, drawing, craft, music, or even film, the art that we are surrounded by can have a huge impact on us.
