We are proud to have students at universities across the United States representing modzi on their campuses and creating change.
Shelbe is in her final year at Northeastern University, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs & Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Human Services. Shelbe’s widespread experience abroad has helped her to develop cross-cultural communication skills and a passion for international education.

While participating in a Northeastern University field study program in 2015, Shelbe met and worked with the modzi team in Zambia. Immediately inspired by modzi’s students, she worked to create an experiential learning opportunity through Northeastern’s international co-op program. Shelbe’s current role at modzi includes strengthening existing community partnerships and collaborating on new projects in-country.
With experience working in the non-profit sector both in the U.S. and abroad, Shelbe brings unique perspective to modzi’s operations. She has studied internationally in several countries including Spain, Greece, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Zambia. Most recently, Shelbe spent time teaching English as a second language (ESL) while living in China.
Elena’s diverse international experiences have led to a discovered passion for social change, and a developed skill set in photography and videography. Having joined the modzi team this year, Elena brings unique perspective from prior international advocacy work. Her familiarity with effective fundraising through media directly supports her current efforts with modzi, both in Zambia and the United States.

Marisa’s unique professional experience stems from participation in two full-time internships through Northeastern's Co-Operative education program. She has worked as a project manager in the Center for Faculty Development and Diversity at Brigham and Women's Hospital, as well as in the Culture and Communications Department at Southwest Airlines.
